What EntitleCheck NZ is

EntitleCheck NZ is a free, privately operated tool that helps New Zealand residents estimate which publicly available government entitlements they may qualify for — Working for Families, Accommodation Supplement, KiwiSaver, Best Start, and others. Calculations are produced from your anonymous answers using official government rates and eligibility rules current as of April 2026 (Budget 2025).

Estimates only — final eligibility is determined by the relevant agency

Every figure this tool produces is an estimate. Final eligibility and the actual amount you receive are determined by the relevant government agency when you submit a formal application, including:

• Ministry of Social Development (MSD / Work and Income) for Accommodation Supplement, Childcare Subsidy, Community Services Card, Winter Energy Payment
• Inland Revenue (IRD) for Working for Families, Best Start, Independent Earner Tax Credit, KiwiSaver Government Contribution
• EECA for Warmer Kiwi Homes
• Your local council for the Rates Rebate
• ACC, your KiwiSaver provider, or other relevant bodies for entitlements they administer

Your actual entitlement may differ — sometimes materially — from our estimate based on circumstances we cannot observe (residency status detail, relationship status, specific household costs, past income, debt to the agency, exact application timing, and so on). Always confirm with the agency before relying on any figure.

Agency names, scheme names and statutory references on this site are used for descriptive purposes only to help you identify the correct body to apply to.

Data accuracy and updates

Rates and thresholds are sourced from publicly available government publications and updated each time the underlying rules change (last update: 2026-04-16). Government rates can change mid-year — always check the agency's official website before submitting an application. If you notice an error in our calculations, please let us know at support@entitlecheck.nz.

Privacy

The free 90-second check does not require signup and we do not collect personally identifying information during the question flow. If you purchase a detailed report, we collect only the email address you provide for delivery and payment data as required by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not sell data and do not share it with government agencies.

Limitation of liability

EntitleCheck NZ is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, cost, or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on estimates it produces. Your use of this site is at your own discretion and at your own risk.
