Rates Rebate

The Rates Rebate is an annual reduction on council rates for low-income homeowners, administered by your local council under the Rates Rebate Act 1973. You can get up to $805 off for the 2026 rating year, with higher thresholds if you're a Super Gold cardholder or have dependants.

Am I eligible?

  • You own the property and were living there on 1 July of the rating year
  • Household income below $32,210 (or $45,000 if Super Gold)
  • Add $500 to the threshold for each dependent child
  • Apply by 2026-06-30 for the current year

How much could I get?

Maximum rebate: $805 for the 2026 rating year.
